I have never communicated with the dead, but the night my father died I had an experience. I was driving home and could feel his presence, my mind was filled with thoughts of him, I just could not think of anything else, it was like he was trying to contact me - I had this overwhelming urge to pull over and find a phone and call him. When I arrived home about 15 minutes later, I got the call that my dad was on his way to the hospital, his heart had finally given out and they couldn't revive him. I think he was trying to reach out to me as he was dying.

Jehovah's Witnesses claim that God must always be referred to as Jehovah

first, the word jehovah came about because the ancient jews had a superstitious dread of pronouncing the name yhwh for fear they would violate the commandment not to take god's name in vain.

to avoid the possibility of breaking this commandment, the jews substituted the name "adonai" (lord) or some other name in its place when ever they read it in scripture.

eventually the scribes inserted the vowels from adonai within the consonants yhwh and the result was yahowah, or jehovah.

I had a correspondance with my sister several weeks ago, and I used God instead of Jehovah. I've slowly been fading that name out of my vocabulary. Oh man did she jump all over that! HER God has a name, JEHOVAH!

I'd love to give this article to her, but I'm afraid it would be a waste of paper and would only make a bad situation worse, but I'm saving this for future.

if your jw family members were hurt by someone physically, or financially (ripped off), emotionally or otherwise would you feel sympathy for them and help them?

My Husband

on the 12th of this month, around 9:30pm, i was getting ready to leave for work.

running around, putting on clothes, making sure i had everything ready and the kids were settled in bed.

my husband, shawn, was laying aross our bed, resting, he stood up and suddenlly put his hand to his chest.

Unsuccessful fade aided by Gestapo?

my nephew by previous marriage told me an interesting experience this past weekend.

while he had never been baptized, his sister had been years ago but was trying to fade.

she moved from iowa to kansas but she made the mistake of giving her street address to her mother, still a jw.

Oh the poor girl!

My mother did somethng similar, only she was the one that moved. We had lived in the same city, but different congs. Before she moved, she made sure to contact the elders in my hall and make sure they came by to "encourage" me to attend meetings. I cringe everytime the doorbell rings!

What were you disfellowshipped for?

i recently had a discussion with a witness friend (i'm a secret) and she claimed that witnesses only get disfellowshipped for being unrepentant for immoral acts.

i am curious to know from those who have been disfellowshipped, what was it for?

While I'm not DF'd, I am being shunned for not attending meetings, listening to Christian music, having a Christmas cookbook in my possession, and "religious" books (NIV study bible, and a book on prayer).
